Ive got a lead on a dana 60 out of a 92 F350. I realize that i will have to narrow the long side and put in a axle assembly but ECGS has quoted me a decent price on the narrowing and the axle shaft. My question is if 300 is a good price on the axle and I realize this is a ball joint axle but I think it would be strong enough under a weak V8 powered yj on 36's or 37's. the axle will be under leaf springs in a SOA setup.

Question is does anyone see any problems/issues with my plan?

You could just run them full width and use a rim with a lot of backspacing. H1s for example.

300 bucks for any Dana 60 is pretty much a steal.

I have a 88 dana 60 kingpin front in my yj. I shortened the passenger side tube 5.5" and it worked out great. My new wms to wms is 63.75" and it is perfect for my wheels with 4.25" backspacing. If somebody doesn't pay attention to the hubs it almost looks like I'm still running the stockers lol.

It will hold up fine, but I wouldn't bother to narrow it. I ran full width 60's in my TJ for about 8 years, and it was my daily driver for the first 5 years of that. H1 or H2 wheels work well, and having wide flares helps. I have a set of 6" wide bestop flares, but I'm not sure if they make them anymore. Width the wide flares, the tires didn't stick out any further than stock flares with big offset wheels on stock axles, and not too many people noticed I was running full width tons.

This is what it looks like with the narrowed front and drw hubs. You can run stock dodge or H1 hummer wheels with no steering issues. If you are interested in this setup I still have the drw hubs I removed from mine and I also have a set of H1 wheels.

About time for some tires aint it, slick? :driver:

Sorry guys started a new thread due to the fact I bought a waggy and a chevy 44 and hope to put them together using the flat top outer from the chevy on the waggy.

J.Dehn -- Your rig's front suspension seems very close to what I'm putting together. I have a front Dana 60 from a '92 F-350. I wanted to run unmodified H1 wheels, however, the 7" of backspacing put the military 37" tire into the leaf spring when nearing a full turn in either (Ok, BOTH) directions.
Did just the 4.25" backspacing alone provide enough clearance the avoid tire-to-spring contact?? --or-- Were other alterations required??

Also, I understand you *were* able to run unaltered H1 rims by adding DRW hubs to the front end --- Am I reading that correctly??

Thanks for any help & advice you're willing to share.
No sense in all of us reinventing the wheel (backspacing) every time!!
