The 2011 SEMA Show is underway at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Toyota will show customized Tacoma & Tundra models, each one packed with aftermarket equipment made to make the great outdoors even greater. Among others there's a Toyota Tacoma TRD T|X Baja Series Limited Edition Pickup, expected in showrooms in spring 2012, and a Toyota Tundra Ultimate Motocross Truck.

A 2012 Toyota Camry Daytona 500 Pace Car, the first non-GM car to pace the “Great American Race” will appear in the flesh before it leads the field at the start of the 54th running of the Daytona 500 in February.

Located at 1512A Roper Mountain Road in Greenville, SC, there will be 30,000 sq/ft of open warehouse and way more concrete than anyone would ever need. Marshall will be cooking hot dogs all day and he'll have the football games on a giant 12-ft screen. Rain or shine, anybody can come and everyone is welcome.

The 3rd Annual Rockvember Benefit Bash will be the weekend of November 18-20 at Uwharrie Stables in Troy, North Carolina. There will be a Rock Crawl, Mud Race, Big Tire 1/16 mile Pull, Grudge Pull, and the High Speed Course will be open for free riding. This is a charity event for the families of wounded and fallen soldiers, sponsored by Wilson Off-road & Bragg4x4 Club. Entry is $20 for the weekend and includes camping.

Pre-running starts Friday for the 44th Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. Racers From 32 states and 15 countries, to date, have signed up to compete in this epic race in Ensenada, Mexico, November 17-20. With over 250 entries expected to compete in 36 Pro and 6 Sportsman classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs, the race itself starts on Friday, Nov. 18. This year’s race will start for the 37th time in Ensenada and run a rugged 692.82-mile course before finishing in Ensenada for the 21st time.

The Big Dixie Boggers are hosting the Fall Rock Harvest at The Farm starting this Friday, October 28, through Sunday, October 30. Some of the Boggers shared a couple of recent photos and the rumor is, "5 way is doable on 33s if you pick a perfect line and have a short wheel base. And you can't be skeered."




This is an open event for anyone that wants to come out and entry is $10 per person for a 3-day pass, plus $10 per rig. Kids under 12 are free and there will be Trick or Treating starting at dusk on Friday.

Congratulations to Loren Healy, 2010 King of the Hammers winner, who took home first place at the Ultra4 Glen Helen Grand Prix! Over 40 competitors showed up to run a punishing five-mile course for a total of four hours. By the end of the time limit, only ten vehicles were still running under their own power.

Congrats to Ultra4 Series Champion Shannon Campbell! Second place in the series went to Ben Napier and 3rd place to Dean Bulloch. The 2012 Ultra4 season will kick off on February 3, with the always-action-packed week in Johnson Valley. The week culminates in the sixth running of the Griffin King of the Hammers on Friday, February 10th. here.

The 2011 East Coast Offroad Racing Series Coal Creek OHV Area/Windrock Park is just two weeks away!





NC4x4 will be on site in Oliver Springs, TN, to share updates on the week's activities and cover the main races LIVE right here!

This will be a true endurance race with wide open spaces, hill climbs, tight winding trails, tree-dodging and big rocks! The course will cover trails outside of the OHV area, opening up land normally closed to the public. Each class will have a time limit to complete a given number of laps, totaling 120 miles for C, 80 miles for B and 60 miles for A and U. Drivers' skills, cars' capabilities and teams' ingenuity will all be tested to their limits at Windrock!

The main races are Saturday, November 5, but the action isn't limited to just one day. Tech Inspection and pre-running will begin Wednesday, November 2, and teams will need the extra time to learn the course and ensure driver and rig are ready for the main event!

Along with the Series Classes, Windrock will see the introduction of an exhibition race for 2wd VW rail buggies in Class V.

About Coal Creek OHV:

Trails range from gravel roads to extreme mountainous terrain. Most trails are rated “moderate” and include mud, small rocks and small hill climbs. The more “difficult” rated trails will include off cambers, tougher hill climbs, rocks, mud and should only be attempted by experienced riders. There are over 250+ miles of trails now open in the area. All trails are marked with a trail number, degree of difficulty and vehicles allowed on the trail. Some trails are restricted to ATV and Motorcycle use only. There are plenty of different trails for all types of vehicles and adrenaline levels. There is also beautiful mountain scenery around every corner. To access the OHV area you are required to have a Land Use Permit. Each person entering the area, regardless of age or activity must possess a land use permit while using the OHV area.

Camping is available for teams and fans at Windrock Park. There are hotels and Bed & Breakfast establishments for those looking for cushier digs.

The Fall Crawl at Black Mountain Offroad Adventure Area near Harlan, Kentucky, is the weekend of October 22. Open all day, all hear 'round, with 150 miles of marked and rated trails in beautiful country, this is an event not to be missed!

The 4Wheel Parts Ultra4 Glen Helen Grand Prix is at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, CA, this weekend. The gates will open at 9am on Saturday, October 22, with racing scheduled to begin at 11am, and you can watch live coverage at ultra4racing.com.

The race format will be 2 hours of racing, a one hour break and 2 more hours of racing. The driver with the most laps after 4 hours of racing wins. This will be the first time Glen Helen will host an Ultra4 Racing event and the 3.5 mile course will combine Glen Helen’s short course with their steep back-country trails. Spectators will have a great opportunity to see the big horsepower, unlimited 4-wheel drive machines up close and personal on jumps, hills, bumps, turns, washes, fast straight-aways and canyon areas.

The top 10 non-qualified teams will qualify for the 2012 Griffin King of The Hammers and Hammerking will also guarantee that the top 5 Ultra4 teams who have completed at least 4 races in the 2011 Season will qualify for KOH!

Rocktoberfest is this weekend, October 22 and 23, at the Good Evening Ranch OHV Area, outside of Summersville, WV. Sponsored by Quality Drive Line, C. Adam Toney, Mid-state Rhino Lining, Fisher's Auto Parts, ProTech, Hardman's Hardware and Mountain State Off Road, camping is $25 a night for elec/water hookup and $10 a night for primitive. $15 per person per day, 12 & under free. RBD began as a small invite only event to celebrate Ricky B's birthday and has grown to be the Biggest Wheelin' Party of the Year! Trail rides begin Friday and last through Sunday. RBD's 2nd annual hill climb “...Run what ya brung” competition will begin at 10am Saturday on Los Primos with $1000 to the winner. Saturday evening will have music and camp-fire festivies... (bring a helmet). Sunday, the infamous “Barbie jeeps” will take on the Los Primos bypass trail in a downhill race.

Grant applications and all supporting material for the Tread Lightly! Stewardship Grant Program are due by 8am Mountain Time, Thursday November 24th, 2011.

"Tread Lightly! recognizes that one of the best ways to promote responsible outdoor recreation is to get recreational enthusiasts involved in the stewardship of their favorite recreational areas. Tread Lightly!’s Stewardship Grants are designed to help individuals and clubs organize clean-ups, trail maintenance work days and other small stewardship projects. The maximum grant amount is $500, and those funds can be used to rent equipment or purchase supplies like garbage bags, water, or snacks for volunteers, etc."

Projects can start anytime after December 1, 2011. For this grant cycle, all projects or events must be completed and final reports submitted by April 30, 2012.

The October Uwharrie Trail Workday is this Saturday, October 15. The Saw Mill Trail Reroute is complete and should be ready to sign and blaze; volunteers will get to see and ride it before the Forest Service officially opens the trail.

Meet for breakfast at the Eldorado Outpost at 8am, meet at Hunt Camp by 9am for work groups to be assigned. Break for lunch at about 1:30pm and wrap up by approximately 3:30pm.

Work days are the third weekend of each month, so the last work days for the year will be November 19th and December 17th.

Saturday, October 15, 4x4Cross presents the Straight Diesels Mud Race & Big Tire Pull Season Finale. The fun starts at 6pm in Peachland, NC, east of Charlotte. This is not a National Throttle King Qualifier.

The Best in the Desert Bluewater Desert Challenge is October 15 & 16 2011, in Parker, Arizona. There are five races on October 15, starting at 6:15am (PST) and again on Sunday, October 16. The course is loaded with big rocks, big jumps, deep ravines, steep downhills and high-speed drop-offs. We'll be keeping tabs on our friends in the Shaffer's Offroad 1066, still in 2nd place in BITD points!

Gulches is hosting their annual Customer Appreciation Days on October 15th & 16th. Sponsored by 4 Wheel Parts, entry is free both days. A light lunch will be served on Saturday, and Chris May and Ken Beckett will be the guest speakers. The park hours will be 10am to midnight on Saturday and 11am to 6pm on Sunday. Call or stop by any of the 4WP stores listed on the flier to sign up. Over 200 rigs have signed up to attend and campsites for this event are all filled.

Big Dogs Offroad is hosting their annual Fall Crawl in Winchester, VA, on October 15 & 16. Registration is required, as they limit the number of vehicles at each event to first come, first served.

The Eureka Springs, Arkansas, Fall Jeep Weekend Rally will be Oct 21 - 23, 2011. Wheelin' World Offroad Park is the host campground and will also be hosting much of the event. The event will include trail rides, dinners, a Show & Shine and a Poker Run and sponsors include PitBull Tires.

The last chance in 2011 for Ultra4 drivers to qualify for the 2012 Griffin King of The Hammers will be October 21 & 22 at the 4Wheel Parts Ultra4 Glen Helen Grand Prix at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, CA. To honor our heroes in uniform, there will be a Veterans' Day Commemorative Ride at Uwharrie National Forest, November 11-13.
