Random Metal Fab Fun.

A one of a kind sign made for our top metal supplier, Maximum Metals in Morganton NC. The owner and his wife come down to deliver some plate and check this creation out before it goes through powder coating. They were pretty exstatic. High fives across the whole shop. 1" aluminum. This will be sitting right in front of their steelyard in Morganton sometime next week.

If it was steel would be sick to have top rusted down to new metal and clear coated! That’s badass tho!

Totally.
Damn shame to put color on that. It looks awesome as it is.
It was talked about doing that but it's really busy looking and hard for the eyes to see everything in a 1/2 second glance driving down the road. There's a science behind signage, but damn if I know what it is.
I think the owner and wife decided on unfinished backing with blue or either black lettering (?) I'll get another shot of it when finished.

Candy blue background with natural aluminum lettering.

It took a few hours of elbow grease to sand through the layer of powder coat to sharpen the edges of each letter, but so worth it. The owner of MM is going to be pumped!

Are you going to seal the aluminum on there any? Or just let them polish it as needed?
Clear powder coating is underway. We just had to make sure they liked it first.

First project I've really got to take on by myself at the new job. An all aluminum folding storage system for battery powered jaws of life, battery tray and chain box. I thought it turned out pretty good.

Done a bunch of those on pull out trays. I like the tilt concept. Nicely done!

Here's my latest dabble.
1/8 and 3/32 tig rod for homemade barb wire. 11Gage star brazed with tig on top and welded with 308 s.s. in the valleys. All of it dressed down some with either a narrow wheel or flap disc. 24 inches in diameter.

Yeah me! Not hard with no competition. I threw it together for the Center Community Fair. Our church and BSA helps tremendously. If you want some great BBQ and are near Mocksville come out! Better hurry they tend to sell out.

@Center United Methodist Church Hwy 64.

Go in the Arbor and look up to see a 30foot piece I built for it.

Any of y'all have a 7/8" die or 1" that would be able to bend up a tube to outline a one end of a skateboard?
I got a 1 inch....I'd have to check the radius.

For scale purposes....some folks where saying "I thought it was BIGGER",

That's what she said!

Seriously considering a small working forge, post vice, and tools next.

I left some edges and textures for the look. I also didn't want to completely hide its origin.

That's a shame, looked like a good quality anvil til somebody got carried away.

I'm looking for one I can afford at the moment.
Yeah that’s how I got it haven’t been able to bring myself to cut back off lol may chop it and clean it up tho! They ain’t cheap that’s for sure! Especially true black smith anvils holy hell!

Wanted to share my anvil a lil more in detail, lol it’s a fisher and Norris eagle 100lb 1940. But could have been made from what I understand as early as 1900 and not stamped!? I’ve seen some from 1890s smaller for big money!
