I need to follow you in the trails! Maybe a few $100 bills will fall out of the Jeep ;)

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

:D just do me one favor, when I die, don't let my wife sell the parts for I told her they cost

Checking over the Jeep the other day, and I noticed something was not quite right about the passenger side front lower control arm

So this found its way under the ‘ole tow rig. The old springs were worn out so it was time to upgrade. These are 8 leaves rated at 4K pounds. The ride is obviously a lot stiffer, but I am looking forward to seeing how they handle the camper and trailer.

You don't need airbags anymore, that's for sure.

I doubt I will need them either, they have 0psi in them right now, but it was one of those things I might as well keep them in there and need them for some odd reason or take them out and wish I had them.

I'm no expert, but I dont think you're supposed to run them THAT low

I do it all the time. They tell you to leave 5psi in them so they don't bottom out, but if the truck is empty it doesn't matter.

You are right, with a load, it is not supposed to go under 25psi or something like that, I just drained them to see how it would ride unloaded. I will put some back in there this weekend for sure. Then it will be a test to see how many fillings I can keep in my teeth

Picked up the camper for the first time with the new springs. Could not be happier; almost no sway and the truck rides like a caddy haha. I put 40psi in the bags (I used to do 80 with the old springs) and it squared the rear of the truck right at 2”. I may put a little more air in the bags for the tow, not sure yet.

Holy shit. How much weight is sitting on the rear tires?

With our big trailer, we're at 6500# on the rear axle, and I've never put more than 40psi in the bags. That's with stock springs, no overloads.

Are you sure you're not running out of tire capacity?

No idea of the weight on the rear tires, camper weighs 2600 pounds. Tires are rated to 3100 pounds. I think each air bag is a little different, these have internal jounces, bags can handle 5000 pounds and go up to 100psi.
