Jack's Burger Bar in Reidsville
Black & Blue Burger
Mushrooms, grilled onions, Swiss cheese, blue cheese dressing, lettuce, mater. They'll throw together about any thing you want. Fries are kinda lame.

Damn, so close! Why you gotta ruin it with blew cheese?

Curious as to what everyone looks for in their best burgers. Is it the type of ground beef - fat ratio? Is it the type of meat - ground beef, ground bison, other? Is it massive amounts of toppings so it’s sloppy and dripping of condiments or simple basic topics that makes it for you? What makes it the best burger for you?

How it’s cooked for me. I like it hot and crispy on the outside and still a bit pink and juicy inside.
toppings help too, but I still want to taste the meat.
Made these tonight. Cooked at almost 800 degrees. Still pink in the middle but crispy outside to hold it together.
just sharp white cheddar for a topping.
Smoked chuck roast burnt ends as a side.

80/20 meat is typically ideal, though 85/15 will work too. Anything leaner dries out too much, anything fatter shrinks too much. Cooked medium, nice slice of Swiss cheese with holes in it, toasted bun, sautéed mushrooms and onions, a little bit of thinly sliced sweet tomato, and some good garlic mayo. But with the right meat and buns, toppings are just a highlight for what's below.

I love a good shrimp burger from Provisions Company in Southport/Holden Beach.

Best burger I ever had though was from Burgermeister’s in Asheville. They were rated the best burger in the southeast for like 5 years straight. Closed down about 5 years ago, not sure why. I’d make the 2.5 hour trip each way to Asheville some weekends just for lunch.

I'm still chasing the burger from Burgermeister...not sure I'll ever find one as good or what even made it the burger it was.

Just Cooked up about 25 burgers for a birthday party this weekend, Im always trying new seasonings and burger sauces. Actually had saved some trimmings from a brisket I smoked few weeks ago and put the trimmings through a meat grinder. Mixed it with my hamburger about 70% hamburger,30% brisket. Mixed with some Worcestershire sauce, butter garlic jalapeno rub and buttery steakhouse seasoning. Grilled up slabs of sweet onion, fried egg and thick cut bacon. Made a "burger sauce" to top those butter buns, topped with provolone/pepperjack and wow......best ones Ive done yet! Everyone of them were demolished lol!
