The Biff

Appears that Greg Biffle, his wife, and two kids were killed in plane crash in Statesville today.
I don't follow nascar, and celebrities are just another human to me, but that man sacrificed a ton of his time and equipment to help people in the aftermath of Helene so I had a hell of a lot more respect for him than most. Such a loss.

While it wasn’t publicized locally like Helene, he was doing the same for Jamaica after their hurricane this year. There are a few other initiatives he was a part of for local schools, agencies etc that he did quietly. Truly a sad day for our local community.

Yes, he and Cleetus McFarland both have been doing a ton of great things since then.

He was headed to hang out with Cleetus before Bahamas for Christmas from what I’ve gathered. Apparently he and Cleetus became buds flying around doing Helene stuff.

Man - this hits me in the feels for a few reasons.

One as stated above the time, effort and money he has spent helping people demonstrate what a man he was, the world needs more like him, not less.

Secondly, on a more personal level. Not long out of college I worked in the home tech and home security space for a little while. We did a fair amount of work for one particular builder who had market cornered apparently on Nascar drivers. At the time I was a moderate Nascar fan and it was kind of cool getting to see inside the home and work directly with some of these folks I had only watched drive cars.

I think in total we worked on 8-10 drivers homes. Many dont stand out, but two do some 25 years later.
Chad Little was without a doubt the second biggest prick I ever encountered. (Panthers WR Steve Smith gets the eternal nod or #1)
Biffle stood out for being a first class grade A human. Just kind, patient - wanted to jump in and help me and my crew work in his home. And tipped us all incredibly generously when we finished.
