I’ve worn the same brand of work boots for 20+ years. But at my age now… 8-12 hours in these heavy things kill my knees and back.

What are you guys who reached this age (or body wear) before me doing for work boots?

Where can I find a lightweight upper with a stiff sole?
 
I'm in the same boat -- having some foot issues and been thru a dozen pairs so far this year trying to find something that doesn't hurt after an hour. You need hard or soft toe?

They won't last, and have a soft EVA sole, but one of the very few I can wear all day right now are a pair of Skechers mid boots. Don't laugh.

If you (or anybody) happens to be a 15, I have a brand-new pair of Timberland PRO Montauk 6 Inch Soft Toe I'll let go for peanuts. 14 was too short, exchanged for 15, which was too long, and then missed the return window.
 
If you can wear a wedge sole and especially if you have a wide foot.

Look at the Keen Liberty. It’s made in the US with US leather. Super light upper and man best wearing boot I’ve ever tried .

Normal keens I’d wrote off as sucking. The Liberty is in their premium line…
 
I bought a pair of DeWalt boots mid rise hard toe light weight that i wear 12+hours a day and love them.

I've been wearing a pair of Brunt, Ryng, soft toe waterproof boots for a few months now and have been very happy with them so far.
 
I have high arches and wide feet. I went with Keen and they did ok and then Merrell. Merrell's fit my feet better but still gave me issues after a few hours. Wife said I should go get my feet checked. I went to The Good Feet store. I was surprised at how well they helped. However I regret the amount I spent. I should have shopped around more for shoe inserts. After the fact we found Fleet Feet I think it was and the wife got their inserts for a hell of a lot cheaper. My point is you might want to get one of those feet gait tests a try and see what you find out. If you go to a Good Feet store just be prepared for the sticker shock. I'm on my second set of Merrell's with the Good Feet inserts and don't have feet issues any more. However, my hip is now giving me issues lately. But I know that is related to my knee issues. GL!

This!! Find a good quality boot that meets your needs then go get insoles that make those boots yours. Insoles make or break a boot, shoe, or otherwise. No way in a million that you’ll find the exact proper footwear from a mass produced product given every single human has different feet. Sometimes being different between the feet of the same human (like me).
 
Keen Cincinnati or Liberty
 
I've been wearing the Tecovas long haul boot for over a year now, composite toe and waterproof. Best work boot I've ever wore. Being on my feet all day and average 3 to 4 miles a day. My feet do not hurt at the end of the day anymore.
