Actually the academy is closer to 6 months and then you are with your training officer for another 3-4 months before you are cut loose. So basically the same hours as a barber training.

The NCDOJ mandates 868 hours of Basic Law Enforcement Training. Most schools do this in about 20 weeks, the NCSHP does it in 16. And yes then the officer goes through field training, which I've seen be as short as a month for some agencies. They also go through mandatory training each year. So do barbers, paramedics, and EMTs. None of which was the point of the meme. The point was first it's a joke, and second the one with the least training is most likely to make a life and death decision, and most of the time it's idiots like me
