AC went out on the truck. I’ve poked and prodded around with the UV light and glasses and can’t find a leak. Only sign is around the Schrader valve, but it’s a perfect clean line that would match the filler connector.
Condenser looks good, no oily residue at junctions, no dye anywhere, no signs of dye on any component or connection that can find.
Took it to a shop and $50 diagnosis later they said compressor, drier and expansion valve replacement for $2200.
I looked up those parts and how to and for $400 in parts I can do that and take it in to be filled.
Something about the shop and the tech that I watched made me second guess the diagnosis. So I’m at another shop just to see what they say.
My question is, if it is the same diagnosis, should I also be looking at hard line replacement, flush of the system, and anything else that would be required?
I’ve seen YouTube University lessons where they didn’t flush or replace hard lines, but reading online it says this should be done.
I don’t have dry air source or nitrogen, if so.
