do carbon brake pads stink? i put a set of carbon pads on the rear or my grand and when i park it in the garage only to return minutes later the garage smells like theres a tire burning under the jeep. ive sniffed it out to be coming from the wheel area, just trying to self diagnose this before i start tearing it apart. the pads are a month old

my buddy's Cherokee is doing the same thing, does anybody else had this issue. it seems like the pad might be stuck (touching) but we cant figure it out either

they ALWAYS touch. fyi. u can always try different pads

50 bucks for pads and imma change them cuz they might stink? doubtful. i got them to keep the brake dust down so the rims can stay blinging im not sure if the pads are the problem or not

word. i think what ill do is just live with the smell if it is indeed the pads. better than scrubbing the rims at every wash

u could try to resurface the pads, it might work but not 100% sure. that way it will wear them down a lil and give u a new surface, its worth a try???

i didnt do anything to the rotors, they looked pretty and the jeep only has 75,000 on it plus it was the rear discs, now the front they are warped... and whoever had it before me put brand new pads on (the crappy kind) and they dont stink but they sure as hell mess up some rims

did you resurface or replace the rotors, if not, the pads will never seat right and they will just burn against the rotor,

IME the pad will wer quickly to the rotor contour. I ahve put new pads on gouged rotors andn after a few hundred miles you could see visible ridges in the pads

Did you do the caliper change?

The original calipers had a recall because that keeped the pads pushing on the rotors. Call your local Jeep dealer and see if your WJ had the recall. The newer calipers are cheaper to get at the delaer or from kevinsoffroad.com.

You could also have a sticking caliper......ie! Not allowing the pad to retract from the rotor.

yeah did u lube the slides of the caliper when u had them apart
