This weekend a group of us got together to celebrate Chip Price's (upnover) recovery from an October heart attack and bypass sugery. The Dr. had released Chip to wheel again and he was chomping at the bit to get out again. Hopefully there won't be an 08 Recovery Ride
There were 11 rigs there, all built and ready for a celebratory ride. From this board were upnover, CYJKrawler, broncomania, Doc, Brit-Bloke, Greg Slade, RICH, SPOA87YJ, Got4Lo, farmboy, StretchASU, 35xj, loose cannon and KORE. Several of Chip's homeboys came out also and we had a total of 25 people there.
I hooked up with Chip and his homies in Mtn City and we rolled into Callalantee about noon Friday, unloaded and hit the trails. Friday we rode Armor All, Pull Cable and The Water Fall on Welder.
Saturday, with the full crew now present we hit Welder, came back down The Rut trail bypassing Easy Out and then up The Step back to the top of the mountain. From there it was over to Armor All and Pull Cable till darkness and cold set in and we headed back to camp for the heat of the fire and lies.
The trails haven't changed much since I was there last in June. The Waterfall is about the same, several krawled it and several pulled cable. Easy Out has opened up a bit and the large rocks at the base of the ledge have been moved around and ground smaller, upper Welder is the same, The Step is getting tougher, especially the left line, Armor All is about the same with three nice exit lines now an option and Pull Cable has eased up a bit though the entrance can still be nasty and it took out a couple of rigs so it's still a challenge.
There was minimal carnage during the weekend: Brit-Bloke - diff yoke, Chip - yoke strap/ujoint, CYJKrawler - spring, Danny - axle shaft, 35xj - steering ram bolt, Greg Slade - tire leak.
Once again Chip The Toolman came through big time with a vise, Ready-Welder, air cut-off grinder, air compressor & hoses, air drill, selection of drill bits, lights and more!
Good trip, GREAT crew and a good cause. Glad to see you back out on the trail Chip! We're pulling for you to have a COMPLETE recovery and NO future problems!
