I had a blast , the veiws up there are amazing, that hill with the s curve will get youre blood a pumpin, thanks for thaving me guys

105 is above Lake James, close to Linville river access. It comes out above Linville Falls between hwy 181 and hwy 221

I didn't get to go on this trip, but went last night. I met four rigs heading back down, talked to one of them and he said they were all denied on the big hill. Jerry and figured we'd try it, we did, we made it. Took me a couple trys though, but we made it

Question, how long does it take to drive a FSJ Cherokee home from 105 in low range?

Hate I missed this but the snow is not done. . .I will be with ya for the next one

Is that a paved road underneath?

not paved , al little pave in one spot on a sttep turn, a gravel on the rest.. chip HOW LONG DID IT TAKE I went back up there today and it was gorgous, lots of hore frost on the trees,, lokked like a painting up top of the mountain

not paved. And to all you guys that got to go while I am stuck down here with a 2wd jeep:flipoff2::flipoff2:. New name for Mike is Maniac Mike.

Man, I wish I would not have left my phone at work when I left yesterday afternoon. Got the message this morning...
chip, why did you drive home in 4wd low?

Ok, I'm pretty smart, and have a pretty good knowledge of slang terms, old sayings, and colloquialisms, but I've never heard of "hore frost" and I can't figure out what you might have intended to type. Is this a misprint, or am I about to learn a new term?

I tried several times to get the shifter back into 2wd or even 4wd hi, to no avail. Finally got frustrated and went up under the Jeep. One of the linkages had fallen off. I rigged up something to connect it back, just to make it home, but then the shifter acted as if it was locked. It would not move even a little. By this time I was soaked through, and severaly cold! So I continued on. Called a friend who has a wrecking service, he happened to be there on call for towing. I drove to his shop which is just south of I-40 on hwy 221. We tried to make the other shifter work, but it was different. I opened up the old one but couldn't get it to work. Thought we had it in 4WD but when I left it was still in 4 low. So on We went.

Whore frost is when the fog freezes and settles thick on everything it touches.
Holly crap, no speedin ticket risk there. WHat was top speed 10?
20-25

Man I wish I still had my jeep. . . I havnet got to play in either round of snow. Im deff buying a jeep when I get out of recruit training.

cool place...I was up there Saturday. We have some land off of 183. Have you ever gone to the Wilsons Creek side and rode those forest roads in the snow?

anyone can....they're like 105....gravel roads. Easiest way would probably be off Brown Mountain Beach Rd. Maybe a couple miles past the entrance to Brown Mountain. Hang left back to Edgemont/ Wilson Creek day use area. Miles of forrest roads. They would be alot of fun with snow

Wish I had known everyone was going. This gravel road has amazing scenery even when there is no snow!
