i have an axle seal leaking gear oil from around my brake drum on a 14- bolt rearend, it is the 3/4 ton 14-bolt. so my question is what will it take to replace the seal? i have never been into one of these 14 bolts so does anyone have some tips? thanks in advance

14 bolts are pretty easy in general. You may want to double check and make sure that its not the wheel cylinder for your drum brakes that is leaking instead of the hub seal. Either way it is a cheap fix that requires little work. First remove the shaft bolts and the shaft. Next you will need a 14b hub socket or some way to get the spindle nut off. Depending on the year of your axle you will have a locking ring and two spindle nuts or one spindle nut with a lock key that slides into the spindle to prevent the nut from moving. Once this is removed, you can remove the hub and drum and inspect and see what is leaking. The wheel studs are pressed through the drum and hub to hold them together. The rest should be self explanatory (fyi- the hub seals can sometimes be a pain to get out and require some prying if that is what you need to replace). Let me know if you have any more questions.
