I've got a 14 bolt out of an 84 cuccv. I am hearing conflicting stories. Does it have a detroit locker in it or a gov-loc and, does it have 4.56 gears or 5.13 gears?

supposed to be 4.56's with a detroit......... open the cover up and see.......would have been quicker than posting and waiting for a reply

I dont think a detroit in a 14 bolt looks like a regular detroit. Not sure but I believe a 14 bolt detroit goes inside the stock carrier.

more than likely 4.56's and a detroit in it. Being that its out of one of the military ton pickups.

The Detroit in a 14b IS a "regular" Detroit.

The ones that have to replace weak-ass one-piece stock carriers are the weird ones.

4.56 and a dee-troit in that CUCV axle. Gov-locks have three spiders, detroits and opens have four. You should be able to see the detroit springs through the holes in the carrier, too.

you can spin the carrier and count the cross pins also to determine if it is a gov lock or open/detroit. As shawn said govlock has 3, open/detroit has 4. The 14 bolt detroit actually goes in the stock 14 bolt open carrier
