1970 CJ5

Just picked up this jeep last week in Charlotte. From what I got from the previous owner the mileage is correct.. 36400. Not sure if I believe it or not, but it runs great and starts quicker than my DD.
Haven't really done anything to it yet... came with a 3" lift already. Debating on putting some 33s on it or lifting it more and going with 35s. Not sure if the 4 cylinder can take it!

Those F-head 134 4-cylinder engines can push 33's well. Sweet jeep, just got a m38a1 and have found out that the f-head is one stout engine!

nice jeep. stick to 33x10.50s tall and narrow just looks cool on those

I am thinking some TSLs or DC Mud Countries... I had the DCs on my yota and loved them. They are just really heavy

nice starter ride,i have a 80 cj5 and have 33x12.50 and stock 20/30 axles with 3.54 and 151 GM 4cyl ,it done well on the trails ,good luck wheelin, ever in ky let me know ,not alot of cj5 or cj7 on the trails nowadays.

New stuff plus plans for the future

Thanks to Pinkston(tires) and stockcar(rims) I picked up some much needed bigger tires. 32x9.50x15 TSL pizza cutters. Only a stepping stone until I pull the stock axles out from underneath the CJ. Plans are to change over to a diesel and run 44's front and back with 36's.

Here is how the rims started:

Has anybody done a diesel swap into a CJ-5? Anything I should be aware of? I want to start planning now so I don't get way in over my head!

what kinda diesel?
Definitely gonna need to stiffen the suspension and frame

Boxing the frame is no problem and the entire suspension will be changed out too.

I'm thinking a 4bt for the engine.

Got the 32s on it today with the help of Merchants.. by far the cheapest in town at $12.99 a tire to mount and balance!

Next I have to start gathering parts for axle swaps front and rear!
