1986 4Runner body seal mod help

i just put 33s on my 4Runner. I'm having some clearance issues and was wondering what the best way to mod the body seal in the fender well is. Should I flatten it out, or cut it down & tack weld it?

I plan to also crank the torsion bars just a hair to help out until I can get the front up a little higher, as well as trim the fender.

I've searched a bunch and couldn't find much more than the mention of body seal mods. Any help would be appreciated. (I'm headed to URE tomorrow, and want to be able to at lest get on the easy stuff)
 
Thanks for the help, I ended up cutting them back pretty far in the seam. If I see any trouble, I'll weld em up.

I also cut the fenders back, and cranked the torsion bars a bit. It's almost there.
