1989 Wrangler D35 axle shafts

Ok i know this axle doesnt have c-clips but seeing how it doesnt how do you get it out i undid the four bolts behind the backing plate and it still wouldnt slide out any advice?

Are you sure about no c-clips? Every 35 I've done has had them(newer models). I think they came both ways so I would pull the cover off and check.
 
Sorry if I wasn't much help I guess I should have said if you were sure there are no c-clips then you could use a slide hammer or the brake drum to pull the axle out. Most of the time they come out fairly easy but sometimes the bearing gets stuck in the housing.
 
Turn the drum backwords on the studs, thread on the lugs a few rounds and use the drum as a slide hammer, usually works.
