background-
was driving up to school a month ago when the truck just cut out. no stumbling or stuttering, just cut out. tow it to my house in boone, find it has no spark. no signal going to the coil. im just starting to work on it today and im wondering if there is any common problem with the ignition on these trucks before i start tearing things apart. truck has 107k on it and ran like a champ before this happened. thanks in advance

Shot in the dark, but......
Had a neighbor with a f150 of similar vintage w/5.8L. Truck had intermitant stalling/cutting out, all ignition and fuel components were bench tested as best we could, to try and eliminate replacing good parts. Problem turned out to be a wire was burnt through, and touching the exhaust pipe. We chased our tails for a week before finding it. Just something to look for that we hadn't thought of while trouble shooting the system

wouldnt suprise me, ive already had a ford fusible link not blow and melt some other wiring. im going to go check continuity on the signal wire and see what i get from the coil to the ECM
