Hi There,

New to the forums, but came across it because there are really fascinating posts and information regarding the ECM units and EEPROM modding / repair. Long story short, I occasionally do ECM capacitor swaps on old modules a buddy brings me.

I was about 80% finished the one I currently have on my bench before I noticed that someone had *drilled out* the retaining bolt on the wiring harness and went _the whole way through the mainboard_. Suffice it to say, I'm skeptical this module now works but I'm trying to hunt down other photos or schematics online to determine just how much of the circuitry was damaged/impacted by this, and whether it could be repaired.

I can get some pics tomorrow or this one in particular... but it's way late here, so I'll have to check back tomorrow.

Cheers erryone!

Here's a bit more detail on my buddies ECM that someone decided to trepan...

At a minimum, I told him I'd be cleaning away the silicon potting to get a closer look at the damage. He claims the module still worked fine?!? (but wanted me to refresh the original capacitors anyway).

Based on my naive oogling, it would appear that at least the following are potentially impacted:

... but I've no experience or knowledge of the rest of the circuit board, i.e. - Is it multi-layered? Are there traces on the opposite side under the connector that might be severed?

The holy grail would be someone who happens to have a circuit / board schematic for these modules, but I'll take any feedback I can get from the wisest of wise here.

Cheers.
