SO.... about a year ago, I bought a 97 xj engine with complete wire-harness and ECU. It was an automatic but I wanted to do a manual conversion. I then took it to Get Ugly Customs in Fayetteville NC to do this swap for me... A year later (and 2000 dollars down) and its a complete mess. The job was never finished, there are 2 different wire harnesses on the jeep, Motor mounts are not completely wielded, missing many parts, and the engine is grinding on the steering column. Just all around horrible job.
Basically I need to rebuild everything, This will be my first project so any help, resources, tips, tricks, would be very useful.
Let me know if I'm on the right track. My first step is to take the front grill, right and left quarter panels off for better access to the engine bay, degrease and clean everything out, then start pulling the Frankenstein BS wire-harness out. I will then pull out the engine and have someone or shop wield on new motor mounts. Ill remount the engine in then start working on the wiring.
The engine was out of a 97 XJ and it was an automatic, IF I just find a XJ harness same year, but off a Manuel, would that just plug right in to the ECU? or could I just use a TJ Harness?
