1998 XJ Do they have sensors in the seat for the Airbags

I am swapping over the Complete interior from a 1998 XJ to A 1989 MJ

since th MJ has only 2 seats I was Wondering if there is a sensor the determines if the is a person sitting in the passenger seat or not.


I do not want the Air bag to go off if my 5 year old is sittng there.

if not I will need to install a disable switch for that purpose.

does any one know about this?

100% absolutely not. XJ's never had any sort of "smart" airbag system

I pulled the seats out of both my 99 and 95 XJ...never had to unplug any connectors.

I think the module for the bag is under the console.It will have a big yellow wire goin to it iirc.

Yes I need to turn the passenger side off while keeping the driverside working
