2.5 Liter V-6 Cherokees

Were these engines worth a crap?

I always used to wonder. I can remember my dad test driving a new one and it was like riding in a 4 cylinder...

I think you're referring to the 2.8 V6. Yes it is crap. Same exact GM 2.8 V6 that was in the S-10's and Blazers. No power. The 2.5 Jeep 4cyl is better. Also had crap trannys behind them.

I called them 2.5 liter because I thought that was what was the little name plate on the back of those cherokees...

2.8s were only in 86 right? the death of amc....rushing a crappy v-6 in there. they are ok motors but have to be rebuilt anywhere between 50k-90k miles...i prefer to avoid those.. the 2.5 are pretty cool though

My '86 was on it's third 2.8L when I sold it. Kept breaking cranks.

Why? High doubtful you could swap in an oddfire without major mods... probably not much more to swap in a FI 4.3/other V6!

Before he went all goofy over V8 power , Pete swapped a Camaro(?) 3.1 V6 in place of his POS 2.8...
