2.5 replacement??

If you just swap blocks and keep all the accessories from the 93, you should be fine. I contemplated a similar swap when I did mine. You aren't gaining anything in terms of horsepower. Theres no replacement for displacement. I ended up swapping in a Chevy V8 instead. I also ended up spending about $5000 more but built everything around it. Bigger motor meant it needed a bigger transmission, which meant beefier axles, which meant I could go to bigger tires, etc.....

It was a fun project, though..... I miss it.
 
This is a just a replacement for the tired 2.5 that's in there. It is not for one of my Jeeps but for a friends and the need for displacement, at least for now, is not a factor. Keeping it running and dependable is the main goal for now. I was just wondering how much more involved it would be to swap to a 4 year newer motor.
 
we kind of need confirmation that the engines are basicaly the same and will swap.I know some of the sensor hookup points will be different since the 93 is obd1 and the 97 is obd2.
 
if you want then i have a COMPLEATE swap over parts for you from a 97 TJ with 75,xxx miles on it, (motor,trans,t-case,full wiring,ecu,dash,cluster,etc...) left over from my 4.0 swap. ALL of it for $500
 
She is really trying to keep it simple both for the budget and to get it done. At this point she doesn't need or want a V8 but the 2.5 in there is on its last legs.
