I'm ready to start tearing into my project XJ since I got it running how I want it. It's currently on a 2" BB, trimmed fenders and 33x12.50 TSL's. It fits 34x10.50 LTB's no problem. I saw somewhere on another website(I think it was cherokeeforum) about a guy running 37" boggers on an XJ with a 1.5" lift. It sat perfect and had a really low cog.

What would it take to run 35's, 36's or 37's on my XJ with a 2" BB? I know the D30 and D35 won't be able to handle those sized tires so what axles would be ideal for this? I'm thinking about comp cutting it so I don't think I'd have a problem in that department. What gears would I need in the axles? 4.88's? 5.13's? Let's get some input on this. I'm ready to start on it ASAP.

Does it have the 4.0? I would say minimum of 5.13s. For axles, d44s at least. And a sawzall is going to be your best friend

I would not run anyting bigger then a 35 on a D44 without alloy shafts. I broke something in my front D44 3 of the 6 times I wheeled the first year it was in. That was on 36 IRoks. 4:1 tcase and 5.38's.

You will most definitely need to stretch the rear, so while it could work with 2" of lift, it will not work with a simple BB lift.

naxja.org ktmracer had like a 2-3" and 37s

Yeah that's who I saw that did it. He said he did it with a 1.5" lift. I have a picture of the Jeep somewhere I'll just have to find it. I'm ready to start on it. I'll be putting it in my uncles shop one day this week and keeping it there. I might see if I can buy the 34" LTB's off of him to run for the time being. And yes, my Jeep has the 4.0 and AW4. I have an Ax-15 waiting to go in it though.

Does anyone know of a write up on comp cutting an XJ? I'd rather have something to read/look at rather than just busting out the angle grinder and sawzall and going to town. Thanks!

Here's the 1.5" with 37" boggers.

Here's ktmracer's now dead white XJ with 2-3" and 37"s.

Maybe his white XJ's build will help. http://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/project-blue-rain-ktmracer-build-12763/

Heck yeh, that will be cool. Post pics of this thing as you build it. I'm thinking you are going to need to move the rear axle back some if it is a 4 door. You might be able to just get away with drilling a new hole in the spring perch to gain 1-1.25". Dunno if that will be enough though.

I'm following the same theme as you by running 34" LTB's on my Samurai with probably only 2.5" of lift. Keeping it low.

Where there is a will, theres a way.
This pic is no lift whatsoever and 38's on an 88 FJ62.
It has about 1.5" of lift now(and bobbed).
