my buddy went to a shop to have a set of 2" pucks put on and they told him it wouldnt work with factory items they said it would pinch something and bust it. is this true?

Nope.

2" Shouldn't change much, you might want to move the brake hardlines down a bit. But you can do that with a couple of bolts and pieces of sheet metal...

If they're claiming its the driveshaft angles, lift it and see. Some jeeps act funky with almost no change, others go up to 4"+ without vibes. If you lift 2" and have vibes, you can easily make up some spacers to drop the t-case down.
