2 stroke outboard help

anyone on here have a trustworthy boat mechanic that could look at a 40hp mariner 2 stroke outboard on a pontoon..having an issue I can't figure. thanks
 
If you can haul it, take it to Couick's Marine on Stallings Rd in Stallings. Couick works on I/O's and the other guy does outboards 704 282 3549
 
David at Versatech Marine in Newton is solid. He does all the maintenance on my Evinrude 225 H.O. I know he works on Evinrude and Johnson. Not sure if he messes with Mariners. He stays very busy, usually at least a month out. And it generally takes him a week to return phone calls. But he’s always done right by me.
