The engine won't hold at idle. I thought it might be the fuel filter so I changed it out. Haynes told me to reset the computer afterwards so I did that and it ran great.

Now, it's dieing at idle again and you have to power brake it at lights to keep it running. I reset the computer again by disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes and it's back to running fine.

What keeps crapping out? The fuel regulator?

Thanks

no codes at all. ran great for a few weeks after the filter exchange and it just started acting up. the thing that gets me is that if I reset it then it runs fine. what would intermittently act up?

My ZJ would do almost the exact same thing except that it got bad enough that it would shut down briefly going down the highway, that was fun let me tell you. Turned out to be the computer. The connection inside the box was bad and would intermittently open causing it to shut down the engine. It almost acted like bad fuel in the beginning but unfortunately was a little more expensive to fix.
