I still don't understand what your point is, or what the story is supposed to be about...
But if your 7.3 passed a common-rail CTD motor, and you were both pulling within a few thousand pounds of one another, one of three things happened: The CTD is broken and needs to be serviced, the CTD got caught up in traffic and lost momentum, or the CTD driver doesn't give a shit about your street-racer bullshit and just likes to ride along and check out the scenery.
Related: I can't count the number of times I've been rolling down the interstate at 70-80mph pulling the big trailer, and get passed by a lifted Ford or Chevy on Rockstars. They pull up alongside, roll some coal, and take off down the road. I'm sure they go home and tell all of their little-pecker friends that they raced a CTD and won.
