Just got a call from a buddy who was trying to replace the front spindle nut on his 2004 Ford F150 (newer body style, non heritage) 4x4. He said the spindle nut used a 13mm socket to tighten and he was told 300 ft/lbs. He snapped the bolt trying to reach 300 ft/lbs. When I heard that I immediately thought 300 ft/lbs was too much for a 13mm sized stud & nut. I'm finding some sources online saying 295 ft/lbs (most site for 2wd trucks), and one that says 20 ft. lbs for 4x4's. Can anyone help confirm the 295 or 20 ft./lb torque?
Edit: I think it is actually the axle nut he's working on. 2wd's should be the only trucks with front spindles, right? That may be where the confusion came from.
