I have a 04 wrangler tj bought about a year ago. Since then the rear end has continusly gotten worse making a noise. I took it in and they say i have a warped axle and something in the carrier making noise. The jeep only has 27000 miles but must of been in a collision before i got it. The cheapest complete rear end i can find is 1,000 bucks. Can you tell me what the stock rear end is and where the best place to find a used one is. The is not an off roader just a run around town jeep but it does have the 6 cylinder motor. Just want to get something fairly new and not wore out. Figure maybe one of you have taken one off to make an off road. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Tim Located Forest City, NC 828-289-3933 or appforest@bellsouth.net

Do you know if it's a Dana 35 or Dana 44? If it's a 35 you can likely find one for sale dirt cheap and just swap out the entire axle, assuming the gear ratio is the same. If it's a 44 it's unlikely you will find one as cheap. Determine the axle you have and post up. I bet you can do better than 1K.
