I have a 2013 f250 6.7 CCSB and I need to replace the rear companion yoke as it came apart the other day. Anyone know the pinion nut size and torque specs? Also I did notice the pinion nut appears to only be finger tight. Could it have been worked loose when the yoke came apart?

I have read that the sterling axle has issues with crushing the pinion sleeve and loosening the pinion nut. Might want to pop the cover and make sure the pinion isn’t damaged from loosening up and hitting the ring carrier.

You can make a crush sleeve eliminator from 2 ford 9 inch crush sleeve eliminator kits if I remember that right.

Damn I hope not. I watched some youtube videos and when pulling the yoke off they used a 2 jaw puller. Well I pulled mine off with my hand. Not sure if that's good or bad?

That's bad. It probably crushed the crush sleeve.

@Jody Treadway can shed some light.

You need a new flange/yoke assembly. I forget the exact nut size, pretty sure it's a 1 5/8 on the late models
Short of a full disassembly, replace the flange, replace the nut, get it tight as you can BY HAND. Then give it a healthy ugga ugga.
It does use a crush sleeve but it's very difficult to crush. Unless you go bat shit crazy with an impact, you'll be fine.

Followed your advice, after a week of driving all seems well. Thanks!
