Let me just say this... I’ve seen the light and it burns 220v!!!

I used a buddy’s Miller 220v mig machine earlier this week and I loved it! I’m currently running a Hobart Handler 140 which has always done what I asked of it... except burning d-rings onto my trailer.

I may start looking for a mig machine that runs on either 120v/220v. Leaning Lincoln-Electric at this point and selling my Hobart...

Should I consider another machine? Want to keep it below $1600.

(blasphemy warning)
Any strong advocates for the HF Vulcan machines? I’m hearing excellent feedback from pro welders face to face.

Change my mind!

I'm not around welders every day but the ones I know with the Vulcan machines have loved them. If I was in the market I'd take a hard look at them. Watch review videos on youtube. They don't get much hate.

Depending on your needs, I am very happy with my multi voltage plug (MVP) miller 210 (older, transformer type).
Hobart still sells what looks like a transformer 210 MVP and miller offers an inverter 211 MVP. If you are only going to have 1 machine, it can be helpful for it to be (somewhat) portable, and dual voltage. I think the hobart can be had for less than a grand from Northern tool.

I've got the Eastwood Mig250, no complaints (except parts availability), done everything I've needed it to. Its switchable from 110v to 220v, but I've never used it on 110v. Comes with a converter cord thingy.

I’m eyeing up the Hobart 210MVP. I can buy it at my local Tractor Supply for under the magic $1k number. Is there a decent market for a gently used Hobart 140? I’d have to sell that one to offset the new machine.

There should be. It's a great entry level machine
