Dont forget, the auto's have the chain t-case unless you go with a gearslug. I've got a spare one I've driven about 3 months ago, new electrics. $150.00 with converter and t-case.
There's a guy on IH8MUD who is putting a Jeep AW4 behind a 22RE, which then leaves you wide open for a D300.
Quote from 'mud- "An auto tranny from an XJ(Jeep Cherokee) will bolt up to the 22re using the Toy auto's bellhousing(same tranny internally) and then I can put a D300 in. "
The AW4 and A340s all have interchangable bellhousings. You just need the matching Bellhousing and TC for the engine, then you can pick and choose which transmission.
Look for a recent thread in the yota section of pirate started by Wilson. Lots of information in there.
Thanks for all the info guys. I prefer an auto for off road and a stick for my tow vehicle, that's why the question. I want to do a light weight tube buggy with the 22RE motor and an auto. Now to start aquiring all the pieces.
