don't know whether i should replace the rocker arms on the rocker assembly, i have a brand new camshaft from engnbldr so do i have to replace my rockers or should i just use the ones that were on it before

I think you can use the ones that came on it. Just need to adjust the valves.

only if you want to replace the cam again in the near future.

I thought I'd try it and ended up wiping off 2 lobes of the cam.

I've built over 2 dozen of these engines and I've never had a cam get wiped out and I used all the original rockers. Inspect the rockers, if you have question on their condition replace them. I think most people cook them because they don't put any assembly lube on them and let them idle on start up which is one of the worst things you could do to a new cam. When you put a cam in you need to let it run at about 2500 rpm for 2-3 minutes to wear the cam in properly.
