Want to do a basic tune up/ fluid change on a 90 22re runner I just bought.

Any suggestions as to what wires, spark plugs, etc I should put on it. Napa or Oreily stuff ok or should I go OEM??

Also It pains me I bought an auto but i did. Should I have it flushed? or can I just change the fluid?

thanks... any other suggestions would be great.

I was told by an awesome yota guru along time ago always use toyota parts especially oil filters just my 2 cents.

Dont worry about the fancy spark plugs. Just get NGK or autolite 64s. I am running bosch 7mm plug wires. I use castrol and either purolator or bosch filters.

How many miles on it? Has the trans been serviced before?

OEM wires, cap and rotor, you can't really go wrong there, they last forever.

I bought and Accel 8.8 Spiral Core Universal wire set and made 2 sets of wires for my Runner and pick up when I had them, never had an issue, worked very well, and very water tight.

gotcha... thanks for the help. Did the tune up, much better idle etc.

208k don't know if the tranny has been serviced. Should I have it serviced? Can I just change the fluid or does it need more than that?

Check the fluid. Is it burnt? or very dark? If so, changing the fluid can wash the sludge off the seals and then require a rebuild. If it's just kind of orange you can do either a flush (Like at Jiffy Lube) more expensive but changes all the fluid, or drop the pan and change the fluid and filter. (Less expensive but doesn't get rid of all the old fluid.)
