have jeep wrangler 1989 258 cid 5 speep trany. installed timing chain rebuilt the carb [bbd with stepper motor] motor idles great but can not get rid of the little spark knock it has its not the same all the time the knock acures at differnt speeds, throttle pressures. tried setting the timming at different degrees just can not figure it out any one have any idea.

I don't know if this will help, but several years ago, my ex had a Ford Escort that broke a timing belt. She tried to start it for several minutes before calling a wrecker. Paid someone to replace belt. After this, every time the oil level was full, and while accelerating, it would "spark knock" until it got one quart low on oil. Turns out that her constant attempts to restart the engine had applied pressure to the valves, thereby wallowing out the valve guides. The "spark knock" we heard was actually oil hitting the top of the hot pistons. Kinda like putting butter in a hot frying pan. I mention this because you said you replaced the timing chain. Don't know the circumstances which led to that replacement.
