hey guys and gals...ive got a 92 runner with the 3.0 v6 (230,000 miles) . As im in IRAQ right now and my exgf was driving my runner im not sure if the motor is blown but she took it to a shop and they said that it was in bad shape. the truck has been sitting for about 6 months now and i dont know if the motor is bad or not for sure. But assuming that the motor is blown/bad/worthless i would like to replace it with something more reliable ie. 22r or 22re. first of all is it possible? secondly what all will it take? my runner has a 5 speed man trans ..also i would like very much to convert to propane and i do know that the 22r and re can be done. any kind of help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

thank you very much for everyones time !!

mike!!

Hey Mike - Correct about the engine swap. Converting to a 4 cyl would also entail swapping the transmission as well...not to mention, if you went with a 22re, you'd need another computer and more. However, propane kits are available through : http://www.gotpropane.com/p4.html#Toyota Good luck over there and take care of yourself !

Maybe I'm wrong here
but I'm pretty sure that instead of having to swap the whole transmission, you can just replace the bellhousing mounting plate. The gearing may be a little different but not by a whole lot.

However, for the work/money, I'd also vote for the 3.4. You'll get alot more power in it in the end, 22re is nice but still slow.

so im just curious...what would i or should i look at paying for a 3.4? and all the electronics..?i was under the impression that the 5 speed in the 92 runner was the same as in the 22rte turbo...which to me would suggest the same bolt patern...maybe i am way off on this ...i think i may be...but anyway...sorry been a long night here in the desert...forgive my ignorance...lol
