I have an 89 K5 Blazer with 1/2 ton axles and 4.56 gears. The truck is running 41by 18 Irock tires and I just destroyed the rear axle.
Would it help if I upgraded to 3/4 a ton rear axle and would it have the same lug nut pattern as the 1/2 ton?
Thanks

You'd prob be alot better off upgrading to a set of tons just my .02

It's only a matter of time before you destroy the front if you're doing anything more than very light street driving with 41s on 1/2 ton axles. I would go for a full front/rear one ton swap or much smaller tires.

What is the intended purpose of the vehicle?

It is basically a hunting truck to use off road but it spends most of its time on the road driving to and from our hunting area

It'd help to run a 14b ff which came in 3/4 tons but it's 8 lug. There are 6 lug 14b but they are rare and not as strong as there ff counter part. Then you could upgrade to a d60 or just do an 8 lug conversion on the 10b frt to match the rear. I will say that 10b frt is running on borrowed time with 41's though.

If you're going to be offroad at all I would definitely get a one ton front end as well. You will break a 1/2 ton (and even 3/4 ton) front end in no time with 41s.
