I've been very happy with my Michelin LTX AT2's, but it is time to start looking to replace them. My truck is my daily driver, but it is no longer the primary family vehicle like it was when I bought the Michelins. So I'm debating over whether or not to go back with the Michelins, or save about $200 by going with a BFG AT or Mickey Thompson Baja Radial STZ. I looked at Nitto Terra Grapplers too, but I prefer the look of white letter tires on my truck.
What experience do you guys have with those tires on a diesel truck? I can tell you if the cost was the same, I'd go back with the Michelins without hesitation.
If it matters, my truck is stock with the factory wheels, 4x4 quad cab.

I've got a set of the Dick Cepek Trail Country's waiting to go on my wife's 4runner, and they look really good for the money. They tend to have a $100 mail in rebate, so watch for that. I paid $470 shipped for a set of 265/70r18's, but I'd assume load range D/E tires would be more. Here's the 285/70r17 at TireRack.com:

I had a set of Dick Cepek FC-II's on my old Duramax and they were really good tires. Smooth, quiet, balanced well, good traction wet or dry.

1983 3/4 ton 4x4 Sub with diesel = heavy pig. Installed 315/75/16 (35") Nitto Terra Grapplers many years ago....LOVE them. Rode smooth, quiet and did well on and off road. 84k miles on them when I traded for a new set a few months ago. Rotated them every 5k and they wore perfectly even. You're right, they don't do white letters.

Had a friend with 3/4 ton Furd and towed 5th wheel camper. Talked him into a set and I believe he got 70k on his. He also replaced with another set.

You're in Concord...head south to Midland or call Crossroad Tire. Use to buy everything from Whitaker's but Crossroad beats them on price and much quicker service.

Went to Punchy Whitakers Friday for a quote because I have used them before. Dude behind the counter had such a bad hangover, it took him 16 minutes of staring blankly at the computer to give me a price for 1 set! I asked several times if he was ok, louder each time hoping someone would take over for him. I walked out.

I run goodyear wrangler duratrac commercials load e 315/75/16 on my 2000 f250 extcab srw work truck and love them. In between a all terrain and mud terrain. They have right under 4k lb capacity per tire and i get 40k miles or so out of them grossing 24k lbs regularly balls to the wall on mostly backroads and interstates.
