I think I am gonna go help search for these kids this afternoon. Anyone interested in helping? In Danbury, NC.

They need all the help they can get.

I have some SAR experience (mostly below ground) and would be willing to spend some time wandering on Sat.

Have you made contact with the Incident Command to ask if they're taking "walk on's"? I only ask because though they may report to be "short handed", most organized search operations are reluctant to add "people off the street" for fear of adding to the lost/missing/"needs rescue also" factor.

Or are you planning to just show up and assist in any capacity they may need? (runners, waterboy, parking, etc.)

If you do make contact, please email me the details and I'll trek up there tomorrow AM if they haven't been found or call off the search...

I called the Stokes County Serriffs Dept last night and the lady told me that all I had to do was show up. I am heading up there this afternoon. She said the command post was at the Danbury fire dept downtown and that I could not miss it, with all the people being around. I dont think that I will be able to make it on Saturday.

Thanks for the heads up. I watched an interview w/ the county EMS guy and he said they'd like continue thru tomorrow before scaling back.

I'll likely head up there tomorrow AM...

If you've got a machete or loppers, bring em. That is some rough terrain. I grew up in that area of the hills. Full of snakes also.

Unfortunately, I just heard that there bodies were found near/in the river that they were near. Very sad...I couldn't imagine what the family is going through.

Breaking News: Searchers Recover Bodies Of Missing Stokes County Brothers

Stokes County, NC -- After days of searching, emergency crews found the bodies of two Stokes County boys missing since Tuesday.

J.W. and Jacob White were at their grandparents' home when they disappeared.

Search dogs traced the boys' scent to the Dan River on Tuesday, and emergency crews feared the boys went in the river. Neither could swim.

Friday, shortly before noon, crews found the body of the 4-year-old, J.W., in the Dan River, near the Dodgetown area. They found another body about 100 yards away. They believe it is the body of J.W.'s brother Jacob, but the boy is wearing clothing that does not match the description of what relatives say Jacob was last wearing. The Dodgetown area is just a few miles east of where the boys were last seen.

I guess my plans have changed for the evening. I just heard the news also. Prayers to the family. I have two sons myself and this hit close to home while I was watching the news last night. My boys were in bed and I couldnt help to wonder how I would deal with that kind of a loss. I dont think I could handle it. Losing one of them would be bad enough, but both at the same time! I would lose my mind!

I just found out about the missing boys today, i dont watch the news much at school. Very sad to hear the bad news. thank to the guys that where going to volunteer to search, im sure their family would have greatly appreciated it

I followed this story as I have a 9 yr old that I could not deal with losing.
I was listening to a news report today that said: The children were at their grandparent's home, the boys busted out a window screen and took off. The grandfather said that he could not catch them".
I hate the way that news is reported.
My prayers go out to the family.
