Im working on a 3 link for my XJ but i have a few questions. Do yall think using 7/8" heims from ruffstuff would be ok for the single upper? Would you run poly bushings on the LCA at the body or all solid joints? Also would around 8" of seperation be ok?

3 link

yeah those hiems will defly work and be bigger enough are you wanting like a wishbone style? i would almost run heims al around and i run those exact heims work great

No im going to do a mid arm 3 link. Lowers close to 20" and upper around 17". The upper will run to to the stock location on the passenger side. A new axle mount ofcoarse.

weld the axle tubes if you're not going to truss the front, don't want to spin a tube with the upper link only on the P/S

I'm doing a 3 link on mine also. Using toyota axles, but other than that, its pretty straight forward. There are a few issues with XJ's when getting proper seperation measurements. Mine will have the upper on the pass side and will go up into the floor area just a little bit. Lots of frame strengthening for this also. I'm using rubber bushings on the axle end and Johnny joints on the frame end. (for all 3 arms).

be carefull welding the cast chunk to the steel tubes. I'd hate to see you make the cast brittle and crack later. It can be done, and should be done if you are running dana type axles but its tricky. Preheating and controlled cooling is a must in my opinion.
