Does anyone know if Rancho still makes the 3" springs for the older solid axle yotas? I was thinking about doing this and moving to some 33" bias ply TSL's, but I can't find any place on the internet that still sells it. I haven't checked out Tarheel yet, so they might, but if you happen to know if anyone still has this kit I'd love to know where I can get it from.

Andy is the rancho kit the only one you want to go with? There are other rear springs that might work better for your needs. Is cost your only concern?

No, Rancho isn't the only option, I'm open to ideas. I've just heard Bruce stand around and say that Rancho still made a good 3" kit for these. The plans for this truck far exceed 3" springs and 33's; hell, I've got over $500 in steering parts laying around. The original plan was mostly allpro suspension components and 36's, but I don't have that kinda cash laying around.

I just happened to be looking at the truck the other day and thinking with a little more lift I could clear 33's, and I remembered the 3" rancho kit. I'm open to all suggestions, and eager to hear them.

I found this but I wasn't sure if these were the right springs.

wow I hope those pictures are generic cause last time I looked, I had LEAF springs under my '84.

Good price though if it's right.

That $92.50 looks to be for one spring and thats without shipping or tax. Does old man emu make a set for your truck?

What about doing the chevy 63" springs?

I think I've checked OME, but don't believe they had anything. I'll look back into it, because I can't exactly remember if they didn't have anything or if I was just too cheap.

I've thought about 63" chevies, but I want something you can bolt on for now. If I'm going to be moving hangar mounts, I'm only gonna do it once... for the allpro springs. Don't get me wrong, I do eventually plan on allpro springs and 36's, but I wanted just a step up for the time being.

do you want the leafs for the front or back? I have the Stupidlifts(3") on the front and they are realy not bad ,I kinda like them. you can get the spring for $125-$150 at gallaways(depends on who is working the day you go)

I want a full leaf spring setup, front and rear. IIRC the Rancho kit is full springs all around.

mine settled to about 1 3/4 inch lift after several months of wheeling. so I had to run extended shackles to get them back close to their original lift. 2.5 inch over stock shackles

another couple of simple solutions are either shackle lifts or a small body lift on it. you could always take it back out later and they are cheap.

all this is of course assuming you have a solid axle 79-85 yota. I am geussing it is the 80 model your talking about?

that way when you get the other springs and stuff you can just drop it back down to stock and have what you need both ways.

they are cheap and easy and removable when done and will save you dollars for your original plans of building it.
I made mine out of some uhmw pucks I had. it cost me about 50 bucks back then for the hardware.

this like I said did what I needed it to do. get some quick lift on the cheaps.

oh and by the way mine has been in the truck since 85. all I ever did was take it back out cut it down a little and reinstall it. it gave me three then/now two and a half inches real quick. and was easy to install. and has never given me any trouble over the years except my bolts rusting out because I went cheap thinking I was going to pull it out later. it been in there 20 years with out issues.
gave room for a bigger engine and for a drive train lift as well. and covering the gaps at the frames was as easy as cutting some plastic to fit. raising the bumpers and radiator was the only tough part about the whole install.

everything else was simple. if it is the 80 model I have been recently informed that the front drive shafts on those are shorter so a shackle lift might not work in the front. Mine was ok with it even with the downey 3 inch front springs I later ran, but it gave me an extra inch of lift cheap.

springs

I have a full set of Skyjackers, 3 inch lift, in the shop I will let go for $200.
