^^^Geez...if that's the last memorable thing your school did...you need a new school. Upsets happen. The FBS even opened up to 1AA teams to compete and be ranked...where's App State.


That's one thing that always bugged me about App St fans...they all came outta the wood work when they started winning big time...to me, that's not a fan. Then when App beat Mich, oh dear God...we're still hearing about it...obviously. No doubt they're good, it's great to be proud of your school, but c'mon...really, still living off something from 3 years ago?????



Edit...for the record, no offense to you, just sick of constantly hearing the same stories and loud mouthed fans from App. To me, show a little class and act like you've been there before.

I was on the phone with my brother and his wife as we won while they were sitting in the stands.

ECU. Quit braggin ASU, its getting mad old.
 
Wow the haters came out faster than I thought, I was giving it at least 30 mins :flipoff2:
 
And for the record I have always been a fan, and I will always be more proud of three National Championships than one upset win. Still fun to stir the pot though. :D
 
Not a hater as I wanted to go to ASU, but stayed local to help with pop's shop. Just like throwin mud :-D

I really don't hate App, I have no vested interest in them, I went to Tennessee. I just call them like I see them. I enjoyed any time I spent at App and have lots of friends that went there...basically the 13th grade for my school. To me, you just always hear the same stories, I'm sure attendance numbers from the last 20 years will show you how many true fans you guys have and how many have jumped on the bandwagon the last 5 years and finally, it was one upset more than likely because App was overlooked. Who went on to a bowl game later that season and beat Florida...oh yeah, Michigan...but I suppose that means App coulda beaten florida too, huh?

We got lucky at Michigan, and no team will ever under estimate us like that again; and no I do not believe we will even give Florida a game on Nov 20, I just hope no one gets hurt.

I am sure a lot of people get tired of hearing about ASU, but we even more get tired of everyone bashing us from the Bowl Division (1A). We are in the Championship Division (1AA), so when we beat Michigan it was a big deal to us.

You ever stop and think you get bashed because you're still talking about ONE win against a 1A opponent 3 years after it happened. Stop talking about it and start doing it. Goes back to the whole...'talk the talk, but you gotta walk the walk.' You wanna run with the big boys and be respected by the big boys, show up and win...plain and simple...beyond that, it's all talk. And talk doesn't get you very far in athletics.
 
Lots of schools still reminisce about big wins from the past... NCSU has been talking about the basketball championship for how many years now?

Glad it is college football season again... I broke down and watched that Panthers pre-season game against Tennessee just to get in the mood!
 
i was at the ecu game being that i went to ecu and app got there butts handed to them but you have to remember that their star qb was out.

i like app state tho but i did see a lot of people that went to app but always liked other schools start pulling for app when they started winning so maybe it was a good thing

We will just keep getting paid big bucks to lose against 1A teams and keep in contention for another Championship at the same time.

Just an observation on your tone in this thread...which I seem to be pretty common with most app fans...you wanna be treated and be respected by the 1a's...but like you just said, you're comfortable taking 250-500k a year to lose. So you want to be respected for what's done at the 1aa level by the 1a level, but that ain't how it works, you got lucky in one game. Had that win against Mich never happened, this would never be an issue, IMO. But it did, so we get threads and conversations like this one. On top of that, you won't always have that 'we're a contender' mentality to lay back on, sure app is/was good...but how long will that last?

I never said we wanted respect, I simply stated we get tired of being bashed.

It did, so let me relish the day without you whining about our fans, geesh, it was a simple thread not talking crap about anyone or anything.

As far as how long will it last; no idea, but you will see my same avatar no matter if we are 1-10 or 10-1.

And what exactly do you get bashed for besides living off a 3 year old win? I even said I loved the area and you guys had/have a good team. Hard to argue with being a contender.

Well enjoy your day...I've just always had the mentality, 'you wallow in the past, you live in the past.' And I was in no way whining, simply making observations. If anything, I believe you were 'whining' about being bashed on.

same here, me and my roommates are all sitting here with cold beers in our 3 side by side recliners with the 57" fired up watching both the panthers and the SC/ S miss games
