30 days and 30 nights...

It's really a question of what you like to do.
Best time I have ever had was when my BIL, nephew (was 16 then) and I took the road trip to Newfoundland. DROVE all the way up, Darren came up, rode a ferry 8 hrs to the island, continued driving up to Gros Morne Nar'l Park. Then did the 5 day Long Range Traverse wilderness hike... then continued driving all the way up to the northern tip... hung out 2 days, the lolligagged driving back.
We intentionally had it loosely planned - had reservation dates for the ferry and starting the hike, but nothing else. We didn't know for sure how long the hike would take (b/c it's a complete wilderness must-use-map-andcompass thing) and wanted to be open ended afterwards. Everything else we winged as we went.
I think the whole thing was only 2.5 weeks but we could easily have made it 3+.

For me the big thing was the comradery of our trio. I love my family but they just aren't into that kind of thing (yet, Jonas is starting to).

If I could get the time away from the family I'd definitely do a long-term backpacking trip. In fact Darren and I have been talking about going ti Iceland....

Haha, I am! But with 3 little kids, we don't have time for any 'around the house' projects that won't fit into a 30 min nap period. Maybe I haven't moved into the real deal honey-do era. Or maybe I'm lucky?

Trade some more HMMWV parts for another week in the Florida Keys, but hoping for two weeks this time around. Had about $750 invested in a trade for a week down there last November, hopefully going back sometime later this year.

I'd love to take a couple weeks to go to KOH again, but unless I rode out with someone and took my dirt bike, I won't be going.

I have been hesitate to post in this thread. I am finishing up on 28 days off from work. I am salaried. It was just luck of the draw and it happens every so often.I spent a week with the wife on vacation in SC and Georgia. Then we had the holidays where I took it easy and did some hiking , played with tools in the shop and ignored projects. This last week I have been just taking it easy.
It is real easy to just get into a mode of take it easy instead of I am going to go and do, just saying. Do I wish I would of finished up that laundry room sure ,but there is always next time.
