I found some 33/12.50's for free and I'm wanting to put them on my Jeep. The Jeep has stock 15X7's on it. Will these work or will I have to pick up some 15X8's to mounth them on? Also, how much trimming am I going to have to do to get the 33's to fit? Could I just remove the front fenders? Keep in mind that the rear leafs don't sag. I've seen plenty of XJ's with no lift and 32's or 33's and it looks really good! Anybody have any pictures of some with no lift and 32's or 33's? Thanks!

I am more familiar with ZJs and not XJs, but I would imagine a lit of trimming would be needed to run 33s on a stock suspension. Also I would recommend 15x8s for 33s.

you will rub with a 33 my buddy has a set of 32.11.50 on stock tj rims and he cant turn without rubbing the control arms if you want to put 33s with no lift id atleast put a 1 in wheel spacer and a rim with a big offset

You can skip the wheel spacer.

I run 12.50s on my XJ and they don't rub with a good 15x8 around 3.5" backspacing if iirc

Get some soft 8s from summit or somewhere like that. Something like $40 a piece, get the backspacing right and trim the hell outta that XJ.

x2 and if they rub, get a 2" budget boost

forget about fenders!!! my buddie runs 33s with 3.5 inch lift and we have had to cut his fenders about 5 or 6 times... Shackles and pucks you might pull it off?

On my 99 XJ I have tried the following:
I had 235s on 15 x 8's and they slammed the rear fender flares on bumps. I have 30x9.5 on the stock rims and rubbed inside the fender well.
When I get my wife a Jeep Patriot I'll put a 6.5" long arm kit and 33's. Maybe 35's if I trim out some.

33's with no lift will require a good amount of body saw work.

i have an xj on 4.5 lift with 35 12.50. i had to cut the hell out of mine to pull it off. i would say you goint o need at lease 2 inch of lift and about 3 sawzall blades

you answered your own question, go ahead do it!

33x12.5's can be run on 7" wheels, you'll just need to keep the air around 25psi. Too much air will balloon the tire and the center will wear out quickly. This is my experience here.

I still think you'll need to do some cutting, especially on the rear edge of the front fenders. If you need more room in the rear, dont cut, hammer/fold instead.

Well my brother-in-law and I trimmed the fenders with a skil saw on my Jeep this past weekend. I'm picking up 4 33/12.5/15 BFG All Terrains today that have minimal tread. I'm going to use them for the time being until I pick up two more Baja Claws. I'll have the 33's mounted sometime next week. I need to remove the sway bar before I take it to have them mounted though. We didn't really have any time to clean up the trimming so ignore that. The 31's look tiny now with all the room between the tires and the fenders. Here's the Jeep with trimmed fenders and 31's...

I went and picked up the tires about an hour ago. They're not BFG's like the guy told me but they'll do. The tire with the most tread measures out to about 32-1/2" tall and the others are at about 32-1/4". Do you think I'll be alright since they don't measure out to 33"? Thanks!

he cut the fenders with a skill saw? wow. i bet that sheet metal looks like poo poo. you can get some of that 1/4" fender trim from autozone that is either black or chrome. it will make the edges look nice. did you cut and roll the rear or did you just cut it?

Sorry it's not up to your standards. But we cut and rolled the rear. It needs some clean up yes, but for our first time trying this it doesn't look bad. I'm going to take a dremel and clean up the rest this weekend and I plan on getting the fender trim stuff from auto zone.

i got a side grinder and sawzall you are welcome to borrow just about any time. can't wait to see it on 33's. get some pics up as soon as you get them on there.

Thanks man I really appreciate it but I have a dremel and angle grinder that I think will get the job done. We were in a pinch on time(getting dark at about 7:30ish around here) and we started late in the day so we didn't take as much time as we needed to. I'll definitely get pics up as soon as I get the Jeep home from the tire shop. I'm hoping to have them mounted next week at Town and Country in Mtn View. But again, thanks for the offer! If you ever need a hand wrenching on the Isuzu just let me know, assuming you still have it..

damn thats a first never seen someone use a skil saw to cut fenders im surprised they turned out that good. hope you dont plan on going offroad with the 33s
