360 engine swap question's

Since I am unable to find a 304, I am toying with the idea of installing either a 318 or 360 in a 1980 CJ-7 with a tf 999. Will they bolt right in to the tf-999? Any help would be greatly appreciated........

If you mean an AMC 360, simple... just find the correct flexplate (360/TF727 should work fine)...

If you mean a Dodge 360 (you mentioned 318 which was never an AMC displacement)... goodluck!

I have a couple of complete , running AMC 360s as well as AMC 304's (needing rebuilding). TrailJeepman on here also had a running 304 for sale recently.

i used the 727 in my cj5 and it did not hold up; i now have the 999 in it; and it is much better than the 727 i am runing a 360 too

Best thing ive found is to find a good running Grand Wagoneer to use for the donor plus you get some extra parts to play with. Most of the GW come fairly cheap.

The 727 was the heavy duty tranny for Chysler. The 999 is a medium duty tranny.
