I currently have an 86 toyota pickup with a 3 inch body lift and 33 x 12.50 BFGs. Under the hood is the small and incapable 4 cyl 22re. And the current gears in it are 4.10s. I'm looking for more power with regearing, but I also want to be able to do 75 mph on the express way. Someone please help me out. Main four wheeling is at sand at Silver Lake Sand Dunes. Should I run the 4.88 or run a 5.29? thanks.

yep,4.88's with 33's,5.29's with 35's and up!

5.29s will put you more in teh power band, but it will be high(er) RPMs on teh highway.
You didn't mentio nwhich tranny but if 4.10s then I'll asume 5spd.

I have 5.29s on only 32s w/ an auto and I love this combo.

4.88's

yeah... It is a 5 speed. And I plan on going to 35s after my 33s wear out. If I continue to run my 33s... other than highway, will I notice much differance between the 4.88s and 5.29s? thanks guys

Id run 4.88s it will scream down the hwy with 5.29s and 33s.. I run 4.88s and 40s in my taco granted i have a 3.4 v6 but i can still run 70 easy down the hwy.

Right now I run 36's with 4:10's and a 22re right and hit 70 on the Interstate no problem. I'm thinking about 4.88's in my rig.Their stronger than 5.29's supposedly. However, in 1999 I put Genuine Gear 5.71's in my old 82, and there still going this day, sooo?

5.29's---4.88's for the 33's is good but 5.29's you will still be able to run 75 and actaully pull hills, then when you put on 35's you won't have to regear again.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm gonna put 5.29s in. Anyone have a set used? Or know any good sites with good quality and a low price. lol. besides wal-mart?
