4 link based on 9" tube

Will a standard 9" case support the top mounts of a 4 link welded directly to it? Or would you need to plate it so that the links wouldnt rip out of the thin metal. Funny how its cool that the tube/cover is 'weldable- (or moreso than cast)', but is thin as heck. Just getting ideas for what is feasible for a 44/9 swap into a TJ.
 
I think it would be ok if you wrapped the mount to the back cover for extra support. But if it were me, I would truss the axle since the tubes are not that strong anyway, then I would weld my mounts to the truss.
 
Look for pictures of bigwoody's - Jim did a really nice job of a truss/link mount system. Just tie it into multiple points and you'll be OK, but I'm with the above poster on how to go about doing it..
 
Anyone with pics of this setup, please post. I have the axles in the garage and the TJ in the driveway waiting. I'll send a PM to Bigwoody too.
