A friend got a very good price to replace his 3.73 gears with 4:88's in his dynatrac 60's under his YJ (has a 454) from 4 Wheel Parts in Charlotte.

Does anyone have any experience with 4 Wheel Parts in Charlotte doing this type of work? Please share.

First off what kind of gears are they putting in the Dynatrac axles?
I'm sure I can beat their labor price with a higher quality gear.

No experience with 4wheelparts, but I can do it for you in Dallas, probably cheaper.

I believe i would go with a reputable shop instead of just some guy that can do it cheaper with my gears. 4wp is a good place to get the work done and Carolina Truggies is a good local shop i would highly recomend.

I promise Im not just some guy that can do it cheaper. 4WP is the expensive way to get "just some guy" to do it.

Were only an hour and a half....... and if the shafts are pulled- $200 an axle and we will match anyone in the country on parts cost. In the vehicle yes $600 labor includes gear oil. You can probably find cheaper labor than us but you won't find better quality. All our biulds come with parts and labor warranties at no extra cost. Ask 4wheelparts about a warranty........... If your going to spend the money spend it once.

pesonaly ive had work done at 4wp, and ill never go back for anything mechanical. had lift done there bout 3 or 4 years ago and my truck got all jacked up in a bad way. couldnt steer, only put 3 lug nuts put back on, on pass side front axle on a 6 lug axle, and it went down hill from there. and every time i ordered something from them it was wrong, or never showed up. as far as their pricing tho, probably 20 to 30% higher than a local shop.

alex at carolina truggies (if i spelled that right) is a good guy, he's been good on his prices, and does stuff when u need it.

just my long 2 cents

x3 for Alex and John at CT, great guys that do great work. I do sometimes buy tires from 4wp, but NEVER have them actually work on my rig.

I can recommend Chase at ECGS. He's done gears for me as well as other work. Price is great and you can't beat his customer service.

I may be somewhat biased about 4wp, or, maybe not because I do not work there anymore. But, as anyone who knows gears will tell you, it is ALL in the setup. If you choose to get gears done at 4WP, get Tim to do them. Before I left, he showed me almost all of his patterns, because I always bragged to him about my Toyota gear guy (who has not had one setup fail yet), even with retards driving and cheap ass Genuine gears (5.29s). I could really tell he (Tim) took pride in his work, and that is what is important. I have also heard very good things about Cperry and Alex. I say shop 'em all and whoever gives you the best deal...

East Coast Gear Supply. Chase is the man. He not only gets you the right parts the first time, they are better parts than 4wp, at a better price. Chase's work is the best around in my book. There is no doubt he will give you a good deal on the parts, but knowing that everything was installed correctly the first go-round, and having the peace of mind of never worrying about something going wrong due to improper setup is the reason why I would go nowhere else.

ECGS is the place, and Chase is the man.

not trying to push business away from Chase.
I'm sure he is the shit. But Raleigh-Durham could be far for some of us Charlotte boys.

Call Eddie at driveline service in Monroe.

my 'local' recommendation.

Any chain stores like 4 Wheel Parts Suck!!!! Way overpriced. Take it to Andy @ Carolina Rockshop

Sorry bud, Andy no longer runs the rockshop, He has closed it down. And not taking anything away from Chase as he does great work, but our prices on gear work here at 4WP in raleigh are right in line with everyone else.

Chase did me right with my SYE / TW DS install. I went to his shop after hearing about him... through this very forum.

Good guys over there and super cool. My dog was with me... they didn't mind at all.

or....you could do the research and do it yourself. Save a ton of $$ and gain a lot of knowledge. :)

for you local guys, look up Scott Schwabbie (sp.?) he is in lincolnton/stanley area and does great gear installs. Great price too.

I have always used Tarheel 4WD to do my gear installs in the past (3 TJs). Never a complaint from me. It seems people either love them or hate them.
