4 wheelers ATV

Fairly new guy, '90 Jeep YJ, been to Uwharrie 2 times. My question is how many of you guys own ATV's/4 wheelers and ride up at Uwharrie? Would it be possible to have an ATV section on NC4X4? I know there are ATV Forums strickly for such but since we are "NC4X4" that should cover ATV's (IMO)
But what do you guys think I would like to hear some feed back especially from the moderators and guys who own ATV's also. Mine is a Polaris 500 Sportsman 2UP model.:wheel:
 
i know im probably alone in this thought, but i wish they didnt allow ATVs at URE.
 
I've never really had to wait on ATV's at Uwharrie... I think most people's beef relates to them taking illegal by-passes around obsticles giving us a bad name or giving the environmentalist cause to shut us down...

The whole "get in the way" argument really isn't fair... maybe they see us as getting in their way... same with the equestrians...

But I also dont think we should have an "ATV" section on the board either...
 
The equestians are completely in the wrong, as for ATVs, I wish they had more strict rules, Cant tell you how many times Ive been cruising at 5-10 through the trails and had a atv come out of nowhere flying almost hit me.

I don't wish for anyone to be kicked out, but rules should be made to prevent these things from happening.
 
The common term is "trail fleas".

There are shitpiles of ATV forums. Way more than dedicated to 4x4. No point in adding clutter to this place
 
Yeah, but if someone enjoys both and wants to hang out at one site (and it happens to be here)... it is a valid question to ask.

No matter what sport or pastime, there's always some that pick on others... we really all do need to make inroads toward working together to KEEP TRAILS CLEAN AND OPEN.

I say that if there was a section for ATV's it would give us the opportunity to chime in regarding trail etiquette and maybe teach a little unity for our similar sports.

Of course that could turn into constant flaming forum and have to be censored, moved or locked.
 
I probably spend as much time on a 4wheeler as in my rig. Usually, I am following along with rigs being the spotter, rock stacker, cable puller, run back to camp to get parts guy. I enjoy that part. I think every group that wheels would probably enjoy a couple ATVs in the pack that are responsible and are there to help out with the more technical stuff. Just my opinion.
 
If we had more ATVers invloved on workdays, I think that would be a big bonus. I am the first one that stacks rocks and uses downed limbs to stop the illegal ATV bypasses, but just like us, I think a few bad apples spoil it for all of them.

lol, yeah, i had one come off a run off berm and smack into the back of the landcruiser when i had it. Also another one swiped the side of the rover with his handle bars and left a nice little dent downthe side.
 
It is funny how every time an ATV gets stuck bad, they are glad to see a truck comin down the trail.
 
we were actually sitting there watching them, and the guy i pulled out was trying to show off to his wife and kid. looked like he had a long day ahead of him

Few years ago (4-5) I was in a xj on 33's 6 inch lift, fairly stock, guy came around a corner and passed me, kicked up rocks or something, forget the trail, but it was a bunch of whoopdi dos, I smacked the skinny pedal and chased his ass down blastin Sammy Hagar I cant drive 55, probably doin 30 miles an hour gettin all 4 tires off the ground, he took off, figure I scared the shit out of him lol.

One of my best moments on the trails, even though I probably looked like a jackass.
